Okay so today's card sample was really difficult to get a good shot of...I tried taking photos...no luck. The scan below is the best I could get of it. So you will have to trust that this card looks a heck of a lot better in person.

For this card I used my Big Shot Texturz for a wood grain bg on the Chocolate chip and also, you'll notice that I did some unique layering with the label I used.
I am so happy that I made my goal this week of posting everyday. I have just tomorrow left to complete the week! Woohoo for me and you.

Inspired by Nature

Okay so in the mist of playing with all my brand new stamps, I was all of a sudden inspired by my scrap pile. The piece that caught my eye was the DSP that already had the flower from Inspired by Nature embossed on it. This piece was originally intended for a 6x6 scrapbook page but I stamped the image to far into the middle- so into the scrap bin it went.

When I saw it I knew immediately that I wanted to convert the piece to a card. The design layout here is pretty straight forward...the one element that I think is fun is the brad at the top of the card. First of all yes, this is something you can do with SU! product. To achieve use a build a brad brad and then take one of the half pearls from your pretties kit and use a glue dot to adhere the pearl to the brad. Done...it's really easy but what a fun look.

Another new set

Well, I am sure you've guessed it by now, I recently got my shipment of product from the new catalog and believe me I've been having a terrific time playing with it.

Here is another card sample from a new set in the catalog called Trendy Trees.

In all honesty, I struggled a bit with this card and it still doesn't "feel" right to me...it's like it is missing something. I do like the layout on this and in the end am okay with how it turned out but still wish it were better somehow.

Here's the details:

Inks: Glorious Green, Green Galore, & Chocolate Chip

Paper: Glorious Green, Whisper White, Green Galore.

Accessories: Silver brads, Chocolate Chip ribbon, and texturz plate:Polka Dots- though it's really tough to see in the photo. Oh and I used my Oval punch and Ovals Original Dies.

Pretty Girl

Okay, so I am going to take a break from showing you more Branch Out samples...but yes there are more...instead I am going to share sample from another new set called, Kind Words. I fell in love with this little set as soon as I saw it. As you know, I have two little girls, so I definitely saw lots of potential for this set. Here's my sample:

In this sample I used:
Paper: Very Vanilla, DSP Parisian Breeze (love this) and Rose Red.
Inks: Rose Red, Sahara Sand, and lots of other colors for the flowers. (Sorry I didn't keep track of what I used specifically for the flowers. Also, Tabby is colored using Pumpkin Pie and Close to Cocoa.
Accessories: Rose Red Ribbon, corner rounding punch, scallopped edge paper punch.

Another pretty straight forward layout...coloring took a bit of time on this as I opted to use my Aqua Painters.

More Branch Out

Okay so I warned you, I've used this set a couple of times now and am loving it so I have more samples to share. This one is Autumn inspired:


For this card I used:
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, More Mustard, So Saffron, and Black.
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Really Rust, So Saffron, and DSP Bella Rose.
Accessories: Dimensionals, Chocolate Chip Ribbon.

I was a pretty simple, straight forward card layout...you know sometimes you just don't need a lot of stuff to make a card beautiful.

Branch Out

Okay so one of my favorite new sets from the SU Spring/Summer 2009 catalog is the set called Branch Out. Love it! I've used it a couple of times now and keep wanting to reach for it more.

I made this card using the following supplies:

Inks: Chocolate Chip, Glorious Green, Green Galore, Pacific Point.

Paper: Close to Cocoa, DSP: Urban Garden, and chip board.

I sponged some Chocolate Chip ink around the Top Note cut out. And I also mounted the Top Note on dimensionals for added depth.

I <3 the UPS man!

No really I do, especially on days like today when I know he is going to be paying me a visit to deliver new stamp sets, accessories, and paper! Work today is going to be very challenging when I am thinking about whether my box of goodies has been delivered yet. I can only hope that it will be here by time I get home.

Here is a card sample for you. I made this card using Baroque Motifs and True Friend. It's hard to see in the picture but two colors were used in the main part of flower. To get the two colors on the flower stamp I colored the stamp with markers starting first with the Real Red and then adding the Bravo Burgundy and of course, green galore for the stem.

Inspired by Nature

Here are some pretty card samples to brighten your day. I decided to post two cards made using the Inspired by Nature set. This first card uses a really cool technique that you can do with almost any solid stamp image. Instead of inking, use markers to color in portions of your stamp. Here I've used 3 colors, Summer Sun, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip. I suggest you start with your lightest color and progress from there...once the stamp is colored the way you want, spritz it with water. I recommend that you hold the water bottle a couple of inches away from the stamp to get more mist on the stamp. Then, stamp your image onto card stock. You will get a fabulous watercolor effect! Trim & embellish how you want and then mount onto your card.

As always, play around to see how the amount of water used effects the image when stamped.

The second card is another made using Inspired by nature. This one is pretty straight forward. I used two colors to accentuate the grass. The colors on this card are chocolate chip and old olive. The sentiment is from Sincere Salutations.

Happy Monday Everyone!

As I mentioned in my previous post, today is all about celebrating the NEW Spring-Summer 2009 Stampin' Up! catalog. By 1pm today, the catalog link will be updated. In honor of this occasion, all my samples today are using New, yes, New product. So let's get started:

The first sample is a card:

I made this using the hostess set called Echos of Kindness. I decided to watercolor the image so I stamped it on watercolor paper. Also, I took on the added challenge of trying to use all the colors as indicated on the SU! color wheel. After a random spin, I landed on Pale Plum, Regal Rose, Rose Red, Mellow Moss, Garden Green. I love the sentiment included with this set!

My second sample shows off some new Designer Series Paper called Raspberry Tart and my cute daughters.

The flowers on the side are a great little trick. To do them you need: 6-7 strips of DSP. The length will determine the size of the flower. As you can see I did a couple. I recommend starting with the larger size first just to get practice.

To actually form the flower, you will need to pierce holes at ends of the paperstrips and one in the middle. When you make your piercings in the paper be sure not to make the hole larger then the brad you plan to use. I used my crop-a-dile and was able to go through all layers of paper at the same time. It also was really helpful so I knew the holes were lined up.

After you have made the holes, put the brad in the middle hole- make sure the side of the paper you want showing is rightside up. Do not close your brad yet! Now working with your paper choice upside down so the brad stays in...spread out the paperstrips into a circle. You should now have a flower looking design with all ends out. You now need to start pulling the paper towards the middle. When you do this take one side of a strip of paper bring to the middle and place hole over brad. Now, take the other end of that same strip and place over the brad in the middle. Continue this process until all strips have both ends clipped onto the brad. Once done, go ahead and close your brad. You now should have a flower that resembles the ones in my sample.

Happy Birthday!

It's obvious, I think, that I love stamping...right? Well, one of my favorite things to stamp are birthday cards. It is quite nice to be able to send a card to a special friend or loved one. I think it shows how much you care. So this blog entry is dedicated to birthday cards. This first card was made using the Cheers to You stamp set.

The second card is a little less the "traditional" style card. It's also hard to see because of the way it scanned but the red is actually backed on white card stock. This card was made using A Tree for All Seasons set.

The third birthday card I have to show you is one of my recent favorites. It uses two different sets:Flight of the Butterflys, and Inspired by Nature. I've also used, some Designer Series Paper and the Big Shot Top Notes Die. My scanner tends not to like having shiney objects on pieces it scans, so you are seeing a bit of a shadow in the lower right corner of the card.

The final card was made using the Upsy Daisy set. I decided on this card to try to use colors that I don't typically reach for...so we have Cameo Coral, Baja Breeze (although I have to say I am using this one more now) and Always Articoke. I used a sponging technique around the edges of the white cardstock to blend the image into it more. Also, I roughed up the edges to give them a less structured feel. Overall, I am quite happy with the result.

Scrapbook Samples 6x6

Thank goodness the holidays are over...boy, they crept up quickly and seemed to last forever. The best part of the holiday was new stamps of course! I love getting some new sets to play with and lately it seems that I've been drawn to putting together scrap book pages. I have two that I am going to share with you...here's the first one.

And the second one:

The colors are Baja Blue, Not Quite Navy, Basic Gray, Kiwi Kiss, and of course Whisper White. The stamp set is called Inspired by Nature. The flowers on both pages are embossed. Overall they are very simple layouts. I am just begining with scrapbooking so it really is a matter of me getting comfortable with it.

Since I was lucky enough to have several days off recently I also have a card to share.

I made this card as a sample for Emmaline and Lauryne's V-day cards. They both liked it so we are going to make them for the kids at school. I really love the colors on this card.
